Design and Engineering Services

We are pleased to have recently added solar plant design and engineering consultants to our Farm the Sun team. They’ve been active in the design, engineering and construction of several Behind the Meter (BTM) projects for private landowners, schools and business entities. Their experience is invaluable having witnessed the rapid evolution of solar cell improvements, thermodynamic efficiency, installation components and other materials.

That same rapid evolution has invited unscrupulous contractors to offer low Cost-per-Watt (CPW) installation with compromised quality, using substandard solar cells and inverters, inaccurate Standard Test Condition (STC)  ratings, and weak mounting systems unable to sustain wind load.

In contrast, our design and engineering consultants have established relationships with suppliers and vendors to secure the best and most efficient solar panels available, along with components that are strongest and the most installation friendly. Our goal is to help you generate clean solar energy at the lowest CPW without sacrificing long-term quality.

The location of your own community solar or Behind the Meter (BTM) plant is of utmost importance. Beware of “boilerplate” designs offered by opportunistic contractors. Experience teaches that every location has its own unique attributes, such as soil composition, Peak Sun Hour (PSH) exposure, wind load and other variables. Our engineering adheres to proper building codes and standards to design solar energy systems that will withstand wind-induced loads and ensure that your installation is safe and secure.

Other variables are also critical. Your terrain and soil may be best suited for single pole mounting systems as opposed to post and rack. The Peak Sun Hour (PSH) rating in your locality may be suited for a fixed-tilt installation, or better suited for a variable tilt  at the x or y axis. Even the shape of your available acreage is important to consider, to determine the most effective array layout for operating the acreage at maximum productivity.

At Farm the Sun Northeast LLC, we know there is no “one-size-fits-all” design for solar power facilities. That’s why we work with each client individually to design and engineer their community or private solar plant, use the best components available, and strive for an affordable CPW.

In many cases, we can help our clients with financial and funding assistance for private use and Behind the Meter (BTM) projects of any size. This is the best time to utilize Federal Investment Tax Credits (ITC) and other ITC’s available on a state-by-state basis.

We welcome inquiries for community solar and private Behind the Meter (BTM) projects anywhere.  Contact us for a free consultation about your project ideas.
